In the world of sports, athletes constantly push their bodies to the limit, striving for peak performance. Maintaining a healthy and high performing body requires strategic rest days and it becomes even easier with routine care. Maintaining body wellness can be in the form of active recovery days, mobility, muscle work, therapeutic exercises, or chiropractic adjustments / mobilizations.
In this post, we will discuss how a sports chiropractor can help athletes optimize performance and reduce the chance of injury during pre-season, in-season, and post season. At Chiros in Motion we offer “Athletic Maintenance Visits” which can be viewed as a wellness visit for athletes. These visits include muscle work, adjustments, mobility training, and exercises based on our evaluation. Maintenance care is designed for athletes without any current injuries. If you have a specific injury, book an appointment under our Injury Care section.
Utilize our Athletic Maintenance Visit as a Pre-Season, Mid-Season, or Post-Season Check-in!
Preseason Check-In: Preparation
Preparation is key, and preseason check-ins play a vital role in ensuring you’re ready to tackle the challenges of a long season. Our sessions offer the perfect opportunity to assess your current status, address any lingering mobility issues, and fine-tune your training plan to maximize your performance potential.
In-Season Maintenance: Sustaining Peak Performance
As the intensity of the sports season ramps up, so do the demands on athletes’ bodies. In-season maintenance check-ins serve as checkpoints to ensure that athletes are able to sustain performance throughout the season. These sessions provide an opportunity to address any emerging issues, fine-tune training protocols, and optimize recovery strategies to mitigate the risk of overuse injuries and performance dips. Our comprehensive approach includes targeted muscle work, recovery strategies, precise adjustments, and mobility enhancement techniques tailored to support your specific athletic demands.
Post-Season Check-in: Recovery and Assessment
After the final whistle blows, it’s time to shift focus from competition to recovery. Post-season check-ins are essential for facilitating the transition from intense competition to off-season rest and rehabilitation. Our specialized care during this phase emphasizes restoring balance, assessing any changes, resolving any accumulated stressors, and laying the groundwork for a successful off-season training regimen. Through a combination of therapeutic exercises, corrective interventions, and personalized recovery protocols, we aim to promote well rounded healing and set the stage for a strong return to competition (for most athletes this could just be a couple weeks).
About our Athletic Maintenance Visits
In order to start with Athletic Maintenance an Initial visit is required. If you are a current patient of ours, you can start right away. The Athletic Maintenance visit focuses on the findings from your initial visit making each session tailored to your unique needs. We’ll work together to enhance your movement patterns, prescribe targeted muscle pattern exercises, provide muscle work if indicated, offer chiropractic adjustments, and guide you with exercises designed to elevate your performance.
What we offer during Athletic Maintenance Visits:
Muscle Work:
Muscles are prone to tightness, fatigue, and injury when being pushed to their limit. This is where targeted muscle work becomes invaluable. Our muscle work techniques include; active release techniques, Graston Technique, soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, cupping, and dry needling. All techniques help alleviate tension, promote circulation, and enhance muscle flexibility. By incorporating regular muscle work into their routine, athletes can help their muscles recover, which will lead to better performance.

Chiropractic Adjustments:
Chiropractic adjustments can be utilized to help gain range of motion in joints that aren’t moving properly. The adjustments paired with muscle work and exercises can help decrease pain, increase range of motion, and optimize movement patterns.

Exercises for Mobility and Stability:
Sports chiropractors prescribe a range of therapeutic exercises aimed at improving strength, muscle activation, and mobility. This will help enhance an athlete’s resilience to injury and optimize their performance. These exercises often target specific muscle groups, address asymmetries, and improve neuromuscular control. From mobility drills that enhance range of motion, to stability exercises that promote balance and coordination, each movement serves to fine-tune the athlete’s body, ensuring it functions at its peak ability.

Investing in longevity and success in the world of sports can extend and elevate your athletic career. As sports chiropractors, it’s our passion to help you reach your athletic goals. Let us help you perform at your best!
