FAQ: Why Don’t We Accept Insurance?

1. Insurance-Based Care Isn’t Always Evidence-Based

Chiropractic treatment has evolved significantly in the last decade, with evidence-based care now incorporating soft tissue work (such as scraping, cupping and manual therapy), therapeutic exercises, patient education, lifestyle modifications, taping, sports medicine, and movement analysis. These treatments are key to long-term improvement, but many insurance plans don’t cover them. When they do, high deductibles or large co-payments often leave patients paying most of the cost out-of-pocket.

At Chiros in Motion, we don’t take insurance so we can offer more comprehensive, personalized care. Our treatment plans aren’t restricted by what an insurance company will pay for; they’re tailored entirely to your needs. Research shows that chiropractic adjustments alone typically provide short-term relief. The best outcomes come when adjustments are combined with other treatments, like soft tissue work and rehab exercises. In short, insurance-based care doesn’t always equate to the best, most effective care.

2. Longer Treatment Times, Personalized Care

Have you noticed that when you go to the doctor their treatment times are limited? Have you noticed 1-5 minutes per patient? Have you been to physical therapy or a chiropractor that hooks you up to a machine and leaves you? Or gives you exercises and walks away to see another patient during your treatment time? Short treatment times are often a consequence of providers needing to see more patients to meet the cost of accepting insurance.

At Chiros in Motion, we do things differently. Our treatment times range from 15 to 30 minutes for routine visits and 40 to 60 minutes for initial appointments. Every minute is spent with your doctor, ensuring we fully understand your symptoms, treatment options, and goals. This time allows us to adjust care based on your progress and reactions, providing truly individualized care that’s focused on your improvement, not insurance mandates.

3. Lower Overall Costs, Fewer Visits

By not accepting insurance, we keep our treatment costs manageable, often lower than what you’d pay out-of-pocket with an insurance-based provider. While our individual sessions may seem pricier than quick adjustment-only visits, you’ll need fewer appointments because of the personalized, comprehensive care we provide. You’ll also gain the tools and knowledge to stay pain- and injury-free, reducing the need for future visits. Our patients often find that the extra time and attention are well worth the upfront cost, as they see better, longer-lasting results.

4. Exercise and Rehab Care Often Come with Co-Payments

Exercise and rehab care often come with co-payments because many insurance companies classify these services as “specialty care” or “additional services,” rather than standard treatments. Insurance typically covers procedures like adjustments or basic evaluations, but when a treatment plan includes therapeutic exercises, soft tissue work, or other active rehabilitation strategies, these are often considered outside of basic care. This means that even if the treatment is covered, the patient is responsible for a portion of the cost, often in the form of co-payments or co-insurance.

Additionally, many insurance plans have high deductibles, meaning patients must pay out-of-pocket until they meet a certain amount before insurance kicks in. Exercise-based rehab is time-intensive, requiring one-on-one attention and custom treatment plans, which further increases the cost. To offset this, insurance companies often place restrictions on how many visits are covered or the types of treatments allowed, leaving the patient with additional payments. This can result in higher overall costs for the patient compared to paying out-of-pocket for comprehensive, personalized care.

At Chiros in Motion, we take a different approach. By not accepting insurance, we’re able to bypass these restrictions and provide truly personalized care that includes all the treatments you need—such as therapeutic exercises, soft tissue work, and movement analysis—without the added co-payments, surprise fees, or limitations dictated by insurance companies. Our treatment plans are designed to get you better faster, with fewer visits and lower overall costs. You get the time and attention required for long-lasting results, so you can stay active and pain-free without the financial burden of excessive out-of-pocket expenses.

Other Payment Options

Although we do not take insurance we do accept HSA or FSA. We can also provide you with an itemized receipt to be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
