What is Active Release Techniques, or ART®?
ART is a non-invasive soft tissue treatment designed to locate and quickly resolve soft tissue disorders. There are three steps when performing ART.
First, is Diagnosis. The provider will use his or her hands to assess the muscles of the body looking for changes in tissue texture, tension, and movement. This will be done until the root cause of the condition is found.
Second, is Treatment. After the problematic tissue has been identified, multiple treatment protocols will be utilized for treatment. Using precise touch and specific patient movements, these protocols will help restore proper tissue function and relieve pain.
The third is Relief. ART has been shown to help most conditions such as sprains, strains, and other musculoskeletal disorders. Most are resolved within 5 treatments.

Why choose a provider who is ART certified?
A certified provider has many hours of training in the proper techniques and protocols utilized in ART treatments and has passed multiple competency exams. They have a great sense of palpation and are able to find the target tissue that is having issues.
How does ART help me recover?
Soft tissues that are overused or experience an acute injury can develop scar tissue, resulting in spasms, nerve entrapment, pain, weakness, inflammation, and restricted range of motion. ART corrects the soft tissue restriction which will resolve many conditions.
Is it beneficial for athletes?
ART is a great option for athletes! This is a great technique that can help treat new or old injuries, help decrease muscle soreness, or help improve range of motion. Many athletes will see major improvements after the first visit. ART is a very popular technique in the sports medicine world because of its effectiveness and practicality.
