What is Osgood-Schlatters?
Osgood-Schlatter disease is a childhood injury caused by repetitive use. Too much activity without enough rest causes pain and inflammation just below the knee cap. This condition often affects children who are undergoing or are just experiencing the end of a growth spurt. Sports with repetitive running, jumping, and cutting are the most at risk. Typically this resolves once a child has stopped growing.

Treatment of Osgood-Schlatter

Other options to help reduce your child’s pain include strengthening weak muscles through therapeutic exercise, muscle work to decrease tension on the joint, and evaluation of the hips and ankles to decrease any stress on the knee joint.
